What if for a moment we forget that there is no one by the name of Ji Hoo sunbae? That there is no one by the name of Baek Seung Jo? That there is no one by the name of Shin Jung Tae?
What if, for a moment, we forget that there is no one called Kim Hyun Joong; the leader of the boyband SS501?
What if, for a moment, Kim Hyun Joong is just Kim Hyun Joong for us?
Does it feel strange to you? Does it feel almost unreal?
We have all come across a boy by the name of Kim Hyun Joong by one incident or the other. Whether it be the attractive, charming Ji Hoo sunbae that swept the whole world off their feet, whether it be the stoic, handsome and charismatic Baek Seung Jo that enchanted us with his high IQ, whether it be the manly, strong and brave Shin Jung Tae who fought with all his might to protect his loved ones, or whether it be the talented, gifted, witty and playful leader of SS501 who inspired many to chase their dreams and show what a real leader is like. These chance circumstances brought us on to this one guy that captured our hearts the moment we laid our eyes on him. But, what is it about him that makes us feel like that?
I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet fans and talk to many through Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr etc. I have asked them about how they began to like Kim Hyun Joong and why. And to my surprise this was one answer that I always received:
"He saved me."
This was an answer that I did not really expect. But then again, I should have predicted it considering how "he saved me" as well!
Most of us went through tough, dark and depressing moments in our lives. And in those moments, we stumbled across him; our angel, our saving grace, our Only One.
He showed us that however difficult life can get, we should charge forward with a smile on our face. He showed us that only we are responsible for our lives and only we can change it. He taught us that we should work hard to make our name known, help our less fortunate neighbours while living a life that earns respect. He taught us to forgive those who cause great pain to us, accept their mistakes and move on. He taught us to believe in ourselves and our loved ones. He taught us to live an honest, sincere and humble life.
How can we not love and admire a person like him? He is a respectable, humble and loving gentleman! And, we follow his kind words and honest heart. This is the reason why we feel this unbreakable, unconditional and undying love for him. He deserves to be loved simply because he selflessly showers love to all those around him.
We are not just his fans; we are family.
We have gone through a tough time these past few months, but this has only proven how our love for him is true and how strong our family us. We don't back away from family. We teach, learn and grow from mistakes and help each other out. Our ties with each other is thicker than water, thicker than blood. We all have felt Hyun Joong's love for us and we simply respond back to him.
He is not just just an idol star to us. He's our only star, our living angel, our guiding light... our family.
I truly believe that I am "blessed" to be a part of this family. Every single one of you is polite, kind, honest, sincere, encouraging and loving... just like our Hyun Joong! I have noticed a change in my own behaviour as well. I am proud of to be a fan of Kim Hyun Joong.
